DRUGS, by Dr. Ogi Ressel
Wednesday, June 17th 2009Warm hellos to everyone,
You've noticed that you did not get your usual and customary THOT
from me on Sunday. You know the one. The one filled with colorful
anecdotes, dripping sarcasm with a smile, and glibby wit.
I just returned from teaching Module I in Minneapolis and did not get
home until 1:oo am on Monday morning - too late to write a THOT.
...and when I turned on my computer, my harddrive crashed!
I won't even begin to tell you of the chaos. Let's just say that my
vocabulary contained words I didn't even know I could say!
There is one thing that I wanted to leave you with:
As most of you know, Linda manages the B&B (SouthWinds) and
I have to tell you that we've made a very disturbing observation:
Not one guest, and I mean no one, is free from the grasp and control
of the pharmaceutical industry. In every single case of straightening a
guest's room, Linda has noticed bottles, vials, liquids, potions,
lotions, tablets, caplets, and prescriptions of drugs.
In every single case!!!!!!
Not one guest is free from medication!
If this random sample represents an average cross-section of the population,
then we are failing miserably to inform people of what we do.
Here's is the problem: People think it is normal to take drugs.
...and they think we are weird when we are against that form of "Health Care."
WE ARE NOT REACHING THE PUBLIC!
Why?
Because we are afraid of offending them, of being too much in the face,
of being impolite, of being too aggressive, of not conforming, of not being liked,
of being rejected, of being ridiculed, of being different, etc.
Get over yourself!
Listen...You are weird. You are a Chiropractor! That totally makes you weird!
You are on purpose. You are on fire. Your mission is not to be liked. No.
Your mission is to save a bunch of kids and their parents.
Will you be ridiculed? Absolutely!
Will you be laughed at? Yes.
Will people listen to you? Yes.
So get over yourself and get out there and do your job. Complete your mission.
You are not here to be liked. You are not here to make friends. You are not here
because this is some cool career. No. You are here to change your world.
Will it be easy? That depends on you attitude.
Are you up for the challenge?
When St. Peter opens up the Pearly Gates at the end of your life and asks you
what have you accomplished, what will you tell him? Will you tell him that you
tried to make as many friends as you could?
Will you tell him that you joined the golf club? or that you bought your new BMW?
Will you expound all your virtues?
And when he asks you how many children you have saved, what will you say?
Will you say that you were too busy being too correct?
And what will your Epitaph say? "Here lies a great man. He had many friends"
Or will it quietly say this: "Here lies a man who dedicated his life to saving as many
children as he could."
Get out there and do what you were chosen to do!
Warmest wishes.
Dr. Ogi Ressel
